Made in Portugal
Tanned and finished in Italy, Museum Calf is one of the world's most distinctive and elegant footwear leathers. Its typically used in fine shoes and boots, but we absolutely adore it in the Tennis Trainer. The hand-worked golden brown colors of the leather are a beautiful contrast to the light ecru sole, and the entire sneaker glows with precise finishing. Although they're a boss match to denim, they're supremely easy to dress up with trousers or a suit. After all, the leather is typically used in dress shoes.
Genuine Ilcea Radica Calfskin (a.k.a. Museum Calf) holds a high seat in the pantheon of shoe leathers. Crafted in Italy, this hide is known for its unique marbling and subtle cloudy appearance. The effect is achieved by a light sponging of the leather immediately after an aniline bath, while the skin is still wet. This allows the color to penetrate the hide, as opposed to remaining on the surface. The final effect has eye-catching depth and remarkable sophistication.
The Tennis Trainer
The Epaulet Tennis Trainer is our modern day re-interpretation of the clean leather tennis shoes of the 1960s. We've retained the minimal look of the original design but we've upgraded all of the materials to offer a truly high-end product. We're confident that they are the best product on the market at anything approaching this price. They'll wear in beautifully, and we believe you'll find them to be some of the most comfortable shoes that you have ever worn. The last has a sleek profile, low toe box, and perfectly rounded toe cap. An Italian-made Margom rubber sole provides great traction and a cushioned ride. The sole is cemented internally and reinforced with 360° stitching to the upper. A kidskin glove leather full liner extends throughout the interior. Both whole and half sizes are available for a precise fit.
Epaulet Tennis Trainers run true to size. If you typically wear a 10D in dress shoes, then we recommend ordering a US10 in these. For a comparison to our dress shoes, this size would correspond to a 10D in the Alden Aberdeen last, a 9.5D in the Alden Barrie or Tru-Balance last, and a 9UK in most Carmina lasts. Many of our customers also tend to wear the same size in these as they would in a Converse Jack Purcell or Vans Authentic - which can be a useful comparison for getting fitted locally.
For European customers looking at the EU size, we also recommend purchasing your typical size.
