Woven in India of gauzy, lightweight pure cotton.. this genuine handwoven Ikat is one of the most exceptional fabrics that we've ever offered. Crafted in the traditional textile center of Bhoodan Pochampally, it requires a highly skilled and labor-intensive system of blocking and dyeing individual yarns to weave a complex repeating pattern which flows on both the face (outside) and the interior of the garment. The colors are bold and striking, and the shirt is absolutely stunning from every angle. Due to the large overall pattern, no two pieces are exactly alike. This is a an exceptional testament to traditional craftsmanship and a truly gorgeous shirt for the warmer days.
Please note: this fabric is entirely handwoven, and as such, each shirt will have certain irregularities and small streaks in the weave. This is part of the fabric's individual character.
Each Chainstitch Shirt has our signature athletic slim fit. It has a compact unlined spread collar that cuts a great profile when worn open. Its side seams are secured with a long continuous "chainstitch" line of thread - which is unparalleled for strength and finished with a functional gusset. The sturdy double-track placket is closed with genuine corozo nut buttons. One patch pocket sits on the chest. The mid-length tail allows you to wear the shirt tucked or untucked. It's a rugged style that works seamlessly in our collection and can be dressed up or down.
All measurements are shown in inches. "Chest" is measured from one seam at the armpit to the other. "Shoulder" is measured from one shoulder seam to the other. "Sleeve" is measured from the shoulder seam to the cuff. "Length" is measured from the base of the collar (where it attaches to the shirt) to the bottom of the tail.
